![]() the process It is not widely known, but bottled water undergoes the most intense regulation of any beverage. The FDA regulates all bottled water sold in the United States, and bottled water must comply with the quality standards and good manufacturing practices mandated for food production. The IBWA, of which Crystal Mountain is a proud member, sets the highest standard for drinking water in the world (higher than municipal drinking water standards) and is the only food product association in the country that actually pushes for stricter standards. Our quality procedures ensure that our water is consistently tested, strictly regulated, and is always of the highest quality. To make sure we can provide the best water to you, every drop of Crystal Mountain 100% Natural Spring Water is packaged with stringent quality control procedures. Before a drop of water goes into the bottles, it is micron-filtered through a series of six filters. The first five filters are all 0.5 micron-filtration, and the sixth is an even more rigorous 0.1 micron-filter. This removes any physical particles and is the first step in protecting against possible biological contaminants. Just to be on the safe side, the water is then ozonated - a natural disinfection process that leaves no residual odor or taste. Ozone is a clear gas created when three Oxygen molecules (O2) are struck by an energy source and rebonded to form two Ozone molecules (O3). An ozone generator is used to inject the ozone into the water where it disinfects by rapidly oxidizing any water-borne pathogens. Because water is made up of hydrogen and oxygen, the dissolved ozone breaks down quickly and reverts back to oxygen, leaving no residual taste. The water is then transferred by fully automated machinery into bottles that have also been sanitized with ozone, heat and high pressure water. The bottles are capped and loaded into racks for delivery, ensuring no human or other contact that could possibly contaminate the water. Not only do we have our own extremely high standards at Crystal Mountain, but we also maintain three other levels of regulation - federal, state, and the industry association, IBWA - and Crystal Mountain water meets or exceeds each of these stringent levels of regulation for water quality and packaging. Crystal Mountain adheres to the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA); this organization's standards exceed the FDA regulations for bottled water. All members of the IBWA must submit to annual unannounced inspections from an internationally recognized independent inspection organization. Tests for a variety of organic or inorganic compounds assure continued purity of Crystal Mountain water and our state-of-the-art bottling facility is designed to produce the finest finished product for our customers. |
